Nearby Orvieto, situated between the most beautiful countryside in the Siena Province and the lushes part of Umbria La Casella, Old Country Estate, expands over 450 hectares in the last stretch of the River Chiani Valley. La Casella is a dream you can reach where time slows and well-being is found, is a place where you can feel at home and will be welcomed with warmth and kindness by all of our staff. For accommodations old farmhouses, once abandoned, have been refurbished and converted into small and cozy relais. There are 32 rooms spread over four hamlets all with private bathrooms: *La Quercia* with 6 bedrooms, situated in the centre, above the bar and the restaurant. Generally used by families with small children. At 900 meters there is *La Terrazza* with 9 bedrooms and *Le Noci* with 7 bedrooms. The last one, at 1300 meters from the main building is *San Gregorio* with 10 bedrooms: is located on a little hill and is the most panoramic and quiet. La Casella is placed in the heart of a land full of typicality& 8217;s: the Orvieto Classico region, olive oil classified the best quality in Europe, mushrooms, the famous White Truffle of Fabro, various pork products, antique fairs where numerous artisans fashion ceramics, leather and wood. In our shop you can buy wine (from our own cellar), extra virgin olive oil, tisanes, organic honey, tisane pots (hand decorated), leather goods and jumpers. From June to September children from 3-10 years can be looked after by our babysitter, who will entertain them with games and activities that stimulate their imagination, teaching them the secrets of the natural world within the grounds of La Casella. Every afternoon around 4pm a horse drawn carriage, pulled by the powerful Ariel, will leave following a path that runs along the riverside, opening up a world of discovery for the children.

In spring and autumn we offer organized trekking for 1 or more days to visit the cellars in Orvieto and surrounding areas, medieval castles, old monasteries, local handmade goods, wine/oil presses, all in the natural luscious scenery of Umbria. The medieval town of Ficulle sits on a ridge surrounded by the green hills of Umbria. The frantic pace of modern life slows down here, where travellers and natives can enjoy clean air, agriculture, crafts, and genuine food. The town is a medieval jewel: its walls encircle a maze of narrow streets and small squares; two towers are impressive strongholds still protecting the old houses, and the town is graced by the church of S. Maria Vecchia and the medieval complex of Castelmaggiore. Not far from Ficulle is the magnificent Castle of the Sala, formerly a Monaldeschi domain. The symbol of Ficulle is the earthenware pot. Following an ancient tradition, master artisans thrown the pot on the wheel and fire it in wood-burning kilns.
